Communicating with the Community

Skipton's Out and About Group, Part 3: Sam, Charlie, Chris, Lucy and Olly from our Out and About Group went into a local school to talk about the ways in which they communicate

Yes, our social group's latest blog post is about their visit to a school, where they helped raise awareness about the different ways people communicate.

This is what Sam and Charlie wrote about it…

Charlie

Charlie said: "I brought my old communication aid into the school, I touch the button I want and it talks for me. I really enjoyed showing this to the children and talking to them in the playground. We also taught them how to sing 'Old McDonald Has a Farm' in Makaton which they all liked."

Sam

Sam said: "I used my MacBook to give a presentation to the children about myself and how I communicate. The children seemed interested about what I had to say. I also showed them the Liberator I use to communicate which they looked at and had a play with. I enjoyed talking and meeting all the children and teachers and we hope to go back again to see them soon."
