Group Inclusive Learning and Marketing Director

Julie Colley is the Director of the Butterfly Room which encompasses training, inclusion and marketing.

Julie’s career has been focused on supporting older people, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health needs to live independently. She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development and represents The Avalon Group on various boards promoting the benefits of workforce development and customer inclusion.

After a decade of managing various kinds of support services Julie decided to move into training. Since then, Julie has developed and delivered a range of social care and management training courses, including NVQs. She also holds a Diploma in Learning Disabilities as well as qualifications in voluntary sector management and adult education.

Julie joined Avalon in 2003 and has transformed the learning and development department, expanding its portfolio of courses and building a team of highly skilled trainers. In 2008 she led her team of highly skilled trainers to win the prestigious national Skills for Care Accolade of best ‘in-house training provider’.

In addition to this she has worked to promote customer involvement and inclusion as well as building and directing a marketing team. Her passion for inclusion has resulted in the creation of Avalink; a regular customer consultation session, as well as measures to include customers in training, recruiting new staff and the creation of company policies and procedures. Her work has been central in ensuring that The Avalon Group reflects the needs and values of the customers it supports.
