Janis is a social care graduate with a joint honours degree in Social Work and Social Policy. She has spent a number of years working in the social care field both in a mental health and in a more general statutory care management capacity. Her work has given her first-hand experience of the issues within the care sector and ensures that the Family Living Service has at its heart the values that underpin The Avalon Group’s operations. She maintains her registration with the GSCC which allows her to practice as a social worker. Janis also currently acts as Practice Teacher to Social Work students coming through to Avalon on placement during their studies at local Universities.
Janis spent time prior to coming into the care sector, in private industry, working for a number of blue chip companies predominately in sales and marketing. These have included Cadbury Schweppes, where she was initially sales trained, and also for the EMAP publishing group where she was newspaper sales and promotions manager for a group of 8 local newspapers, including the Scarborough Evening News and the Whitby Gazette.
Janis' knowledge and experience are invaluable during the present economic climate to maintain the service’s excellent CQC ratings and to enable it to expand into new markets.
