His professional relationship with the Institute, which spans 25 years, includes the offices of President of the Institute for Southern Africa, Chairman of Council and a seat on the World Council of the Institute.
He brings to Avalon a wealth of experience gained in the commercial, industrial and professional sectors, which includes the role of Group Company Secretary and Financial Controller of a large listed footwear manufacturer, 14 years as the Finance Director of a company engaged in the Commercial Sector and latterly, some years in a consulting capacity for one of the ‘big four’ accounting practices.
Tony joined Avalon as Finance Director in May 2010, and his role involves overall responsibility for strategic financial planning. His Commercial experience will be invaluable in managing the financial requirements of the different services and innovations that make up The Avalon Group.
Outside the office, Tony describes himself as a ‘sports addict’ and includes on his list of accomplishments over 100 standard marathons, 11 finishes in the gruelling 60 mile Comrades Marathon, plus 10 finishes in the 75 mile DUZI Ultra Canoe Marathon. He has also competed at national level in swimming, water polo and biathlon and currently plays squash for the Harrogate Squash Club.
