Christine, a holidaymaker: “Living on my own and not being able to get out, I haven’t had a holiday for 10 years. I had given up until someone at the hospice told me about you. I was so pleased when I telephoned and you arranged to visit me at home, then came round and arranged the type of holiday I would like, to a place I really wanted to go. I also appreciated you matching me with a Holiday Supporter who was suited to me and arranging for them to visit me before the holiday so we had chance to talk about what we would do. The holiday was fantastic. Thank you very much.”
A holidaymaker: “We weren’t sure if you would be able to help when we had a group of people who live together, who wanted to go on holiday together as well. But when we contacted you asking for a trip to the Costa del Sol, you arranged a group holiday specifically for us with a tailored support package. It worked out so well and was very easy. They all loved the beach resort and want to go again next year!”
A carer: “I am a full time carer for someone who lives with me, and when I wanted to go on holiday I decided that rather than arrange respite care, I would arrange a holiday for him as well. Cath, a holidaymaker: “I used to take lots of holidays and coach trips, but I haven’t been able to since I cannot manage steps. Avalon Freedom did a holiday for retirees who needed a little support. We got on so well as a group and the staff were so helpful and pleasant. I use a wheelchair for long distances and someone pushed me around some beautiful gardens all day. There’s no way I would have been able to get out and about without their help. I had a great time and could not recommend them enough.”
