Shared Lives

We support people with a learning disability, mental health need, physical disabilities, sensory loss and older adults as well as individuals on the autistic spectrum and people with dementia

Individuals may be looking for a short break, respite, a holiday or a long-term living provision.

Shared Lives enables people to do this in a family setting supported by trained carers called Providers.

Providers are carefully selected and police checked. They also take part in an extensive assessment before being approved to work with us.

To find out how to access our service you can contact us directly, ask family or a friend to contact us, or ask your social worker or person who works alongside you.

We will set up meetings with our Providers so you can experience the service for yourself before making any decisions.

Further information on Shared Lives and accessing the services can be obtained by contacting Karen Oddy on 01423 530 053.

The Avalon Group is a UK leader in Shared Lives provision.

85% of The Avalon Group's services are rated 'Excellent' by the Care Quality Commission.

To us, every single customer is unique, with their own specific requirements. So, every service that we provide is completely tailor-made.

Rachel has lived with us for 2 and 1/2 years. We provide a loving family environment.

We offer long-term support, short breaks or respite care. We can help people to live full lives in a family setting.

Our Support Workers are fully trained and help people live the lives they choose.

I have been with Avalon for 15 years. Woo-hoo!

We include anybody that comes to stay as part of our family.

What do you like about being in Avalon, Betty?

Happy…

It’s a place where people can socialise and live together.

Avalon has made me feel really safe and independent. I wouldn’t want to be in a situation where I was vulnerable. That’s what Avalon means to me.

Kind people, all the staff, they look after me, all the staff.

We enjoy being here, with everything around us that we need.

It’s about now, your life, get on with it.

Betty and I proved it can be done. Can’t it, Betty?

Done, yes.

Live life is Avalon’s motto. I intend to do so.
