Finance Director – Head Office – Harrogate
4 days per week initially (30 hours) reducing to 3 days per week
£50,000 per annum pro rata

An opportunity has arisen to join us as our Finance Director. You will be providing consistent and robust strategic financial advice to the Chief Executive, Senior Management Team and our Board of Trustees, and you will have responsibility for the preparation of annual budgets and formulation of longer term financial plans.
You will be confident in producing financial information to support our business development process, and will play a key role in appraising new investments and projects to ensure viability.
Additionally you will be overseeing the financial aspect of our premises management, including negotiation of leases and reviewing the provision of utilities to office premises. You will also have overall responsibility for the administration of Avalon’s pension schemes.
As a qualified accountant approved by CCAB (ACCA,CIMA,CIPFA or AIA) you will be able to demonstrate a breadth of experience at a senior level within a SME environment. You will also have experience of leading teams to maintain robust financial controls and drive forward change, and will be able to support the work of the Finance Team when needed. Ideally you will be from a charity or social care sector background, with demonstrable understanding of the complexity of working in an organisation with multiple income streams.
Based at our Head Office in Harrogate, this position is offered as a permanent role initially for 4 days a week, but will revert to its established status of 3 days per week. Some flexibility will be required in working days. The successful candidate will need to be available to commence on 2 October 2017 and we are able to consider applications on an interim (6 month) basis or a permanent appointment.
