Case Study

Bev Wilson joined The Avalon Group as a Support Worker. From the start of her journey at Avalon Bev was driven to provide the very best outcomes and fulfilled lives for the people she supported. You would undoubtedly say she had a passion for people. But what Bev also possessed was a desire to take her career as far as possible, and a hunger to learn more and more about Social Care.

This determination and ambition quickly propelled Bev - through Avalon's ongoing review process - to gaining new qualifications and accepting a promotion as Service Manager for our York office. From this position Bev was able to show not only her innate ability to care for vulnerable adults, but also to manage staff and co-ordinate support offerings. 

Bev continued in her quest to improve her knowledge base and practices, and this saw her further develop with the support of her Line Manager to take on more responsibility, whilst branching into new areas such as local marketing and event planning. This led to Bev being appointed Locality Manager for the York area, a position which has seen her take charge of one of Avalon's largest catchments. This has since grown to also encompass our Doncaster service that launched in Summer 2014.

Bev's journey is evidence of the amazing things people joining Avalon can achieve. Bev said "If you have the drive and set goals you wish to achieve, Avalon's incredible support network and learning team will ensure you have the tools to make those dreams a reality."
