Meet The Team
Angela has recently retired from the NHS where her responsibilities involved the commissioning of services across a range of client groups including children and young people, learning disability, physical disability, mental health and older people. Angela joined the NHS in the mid-1990s after gaining a degree in Applied Social Science as a mature student. Prior to this she worked in Banking and the Civil Service.
Becoming a trustee meant that following retirement Angela could continue to use her skills and experience to contribute to making a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged/vulnerable people and be part of the team that will see Avalon continue to develop and provide quality services despite the economic challenges facing the voluntary and charitable sectors.
As a recent recruit to the Board one of the things that has impressed Angela is the priority that Avalon gives to ensuring its customers are able to have their views and wishes about services taken into account, which in turn truly puts a personalised approach to service delivery into practice.
Angela is married to an Electrical Engineer and has 3 children, 2 step children and 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 22 to 3 years of age. When she is not busy with grandchildren Angela's hobbies include ballroom and latin dancing, family history and reading.
