I am from the North West and was born in Wigan. I maintain strong ties with my family and friends in Wigan and I’m a keen Rugby League fan! Whilst studying at university I became involved in charities and voluntary work with people with disabilities. These early experiences have led to a lifelong commitment to supporting those who can be marginalised. Before joining the prison service in 1999, I worked in a variety of roles within the voluntary sector and held posts in Youth Work and the Church of England.
I have Governed six prisons in the UK and in 2019 I was promoted to the role of Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice. My current responsibilities are to manage six prisons across the South of the country.
As an Executive Coach, I am passionately interested in personal and professional development for individuals and teams in the world of work. I promote the diverse needs of individuals in my approach within my responsibilities.
I am a mum to two adopted boys, both of whom have additional needs. In my spare time I love cooking, croquet and supporting my home town rugby league team – Wigan.
“I’ve a lifelong commitment to supporting those who can be marginalised.”
