Take your Social Care career to the next level

Support Co-ordinator (Senior Support Worker) - York (Ref Y205)
37 hours per week / £9.11 per hour paid for Customer Contact Time

Who we are.

The Avalon Group is a well-established, award-winning charity providing flexible person-centred care, support and companionship for everyday life, housing, learning and employment. To do this we need people who are enthusiastic about using their existing skills to help others.

We are registered with local authorities and rated highly by the Care Quality Commission independent inspectors with an overall rating of ‘Good’ across all services following recent inspections.

What does the role involve?

Known within Avalon as a Support Co-ordinator this role is better known in the Social Care Sector as a Senior Support Worker. This exciting and varied role will give you the opportunity to develop your management skills.

You will be responsible for assisting the local management team in undertaking basic management tasks, including managing staff rotas, undertaking direct observations of Support Workers, and updating support plans and risk assessments. You will also be required to provide direct support to our customers.

You must be computer literate due to the variety of IT based tasks associated with this role. Access to a vehicle for business use is also essential.

We are looking for someone who can adapt and work flexibility to the needs of the service, as you may need to provide some emergency support cover. You will need to be able to travel between support sessions so access to a vehicle is essential for this role. You will participate on a rota basis in the out of hours on-call service, this is predominantly a telephone advice service, although some issues may require you to attend in person.

What we offer you.

In return you will receive award winning training, discounts on Gym memberships and at high street retailers (such as Boots, M&S and Sports Direct), access to a 24/7 employee helpline and a paid enhanced DBS check. Travel time is paid at a hourly rate of £8.21 and we pay travel expenses between support sessions.
