Who are we?

We are registered with local authorities and rated highly by the Care Quality Commission independent inspectors with an overall rating of ‘Good’ across all services following recent inspections.
Due to business growth and an increase in work with existing customers, we have full time vacancies for support workers to work with our customers across Harrogate and the surrounding areas. Part time hours would also be considered.
Many of our customers in the Harrogate area are young adults with learning disabilities looking for support to live independently, develop their social skills and above all, enjoying some company.
What does the role involve?
As a Support Worker you will listen to our customers, what they want to do and what they want to achieve. We are not a residential care provider and your approach will be specifically tailored to the person you are supporting, working towards their goals and aspirations. Some personal care may be involved with certain customers. You will build a great relationship with the people you support, and will see the difference you make to their lives on a daily basis.
Our customers mainly require support first thing in the morning, from late afternoon onwards and at weekends. As there will also be a requirement to undertake some work over a weekend on an alternate week arrangement, so some flexibility will be required.
Maybe you are good at cooking, confident managing finances or always on the lookout for fun things to do in your local area. These are exactly the kind of things that can make you a fantastic Support Worker for Avalon.
Of course there are other elements involved in becoming a Support Worker. Our award winning in-house training team will ensure that you learn all the additional skills you need to deliver the role with confidence, so that no previous experience working in social care is necessary.
Being a car driver would also be highly desirable but is not essential.

Our current rate for customer contact time is £8.31 per hour with further enhancements paid for weekends and Bank Holidays, and we pay a generous rate for sleepover shifts.
