The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can combine strong operational leadership with a passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred support. As Registered Manager, you will provide leadership and regulatory oversight across our Supported Living, Community Care and Shared Lives services, ensuring people receive safe, high-quality support that promotes choice, independence and positive outcomes.

  • Leading the ongoing development and improvement of our services.
  • Supporting the growth and development of our Supported Living and Shared Lives services.
  • Building positive relationships with commissioners, social workers, health professionals, housing providers, advocacy services, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring service quality, performance, referrals, vacancies and occupancy, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Supporting effective recruitment, development and retention of high-quality Support Workers and Shared Lives carers.
  • Ensuring robust safeguarding, health and safety, risk management and quality assurance arrangements are in place.
  • Developing and supporting managers and teams through effective supervision, coaching, mentoring and reflective practice.
  • Managing resources and budgets effectively and ensuring appropriate financial oversight.
  • Supporting business development activity, including market engagement, tender responses and mobilisation of new services.
  • Representing The Avalon Group positively within local and regional forums and partnership networks.
  • Participating in the locality’s out-of-hours on-call service.

You will play a key role in ensuring our services remain inspection-ready, meet CQC Fundamental Standards and reflect Shared Lives Plus guidance, Care Act requirements, safeguarding legislation and our contractual obligations.

About you

We are looking for a confident and collaborative leader who can balance strategic thinking with strong operational management.

You will be someone who:

  • Has experience of managing social care services and leading teams effectively.
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of quality, safeguarding and regulatory requirements.

  • Takes a proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
  • Communicates clearly and builds positive, professional relationships.
  • Can manage competing priorities and remain reliable under pressure.
  • Is committed to developing others through coaching, mentoring and support.
  • Shares our commitment to person-centred support, choice, independence and positive outcomes.
  • Is committed to their own continued professional development.

Above all, you will be a visible, approachable and values-led leader who is committed to helping people live fulfilling and independent lives.
