Support Worker, Harrogate (Specialist Supported Living)

Come and be part of something new and exciting — supporting people to achieve their best lives.

Avalon Group is opening a brand-new supported living service in the heart of Harrogate, and we’re looking for caring, motivated people to join us on this exciting journey. This is a brilliant opportunity to help shape a new service from day one, supporting people with learning disabilities, autistic people and individuals with mental health needs to live truly fulfilling, gloriously ordinary lives.

About the role

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Work alongside people to achieve their goals, build confidence and develop daily living skills
  • Support people with personal care, medication, emotional wellbeing and routines that promote independence
  • Build meaningful relationships and create a warm, supportive home environment
  • Enable people to access their community, try new things and take positive steps in their lives
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals and your team
  • Play a vital role in shaping a brand-new supported living service based on excellent practice

Every day will be purposeful, varied and centred around what matters to the person.

About you

You don’t need previous experience — just kindness, reliability and the desire to make a difference. Full training and ongoing development will be provided.

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Compassionate, patient and a good communicator
  • Someone who believes in inclusion and people’s right to live their best lives
  • Able to work flexibly (some evenings/weekends)
  • Keen to learn and grow within a supportive team
  • Passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health needs

What we offer

  • Enhanced rates for weekends, evenings, and sleepover shifts
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training (aligned to Skills for Care)
  • Supportive local leadership and development opportunities
  • Employee benefits including pension, wellbeing support, a wider wallet scheme and recognition schemes
  • The chance to be part of a brand-new service and shape something meaningful

If you’re excited by this opportunity and want to be part of something new in Harrogate, we’d love to hear from you.

The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’.
