About us
Who we are

Who we are

Welcome to Avalon.
We are an award-winning, not-for-profit social care provider, working across the North of England. Since 1994, we’ve supported adults to live independently, safely, and with purpose in their local communities.

We’re a values-led organisation, proud to deliver high-quality, personalised support that puts people first.

Who we support

We work with adults who need support to live well. This includes people with:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Sensory or learning disabilities
  • Mental health conditions
  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Autism

We support people of all ages over 18, with a wide range of needs – from community-based support, to 24/7 complex care.

Our aim is to help people live fulfilling, independent lives, with the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.

What we offer

We deliver three core services: Supported Living, Community Support, and Shared Lives.

These services can include:

  • Support at home with daily living – such as personal care, cooking, medication, or planning routines
  • Help finding and sustaining specialist housing that promotes independence and wellbeing
  • Community-based support – accessing services, social opportunities, education, volunteering and leisure activities
  • Skills-based support – including travel training, money management and confidence building
  • Shared Lives – long-term, short-term or respite placements with trained carers in their family homes
  • Flexible, tailored support – including help following hospital discharge, on holidays, or around employment

We work closely with individuals, families, and commissioners to co-produce support plans that meet each person’s unique needs and outcomes.

Quality and regulation

Avalon is a trusted provider, working in partnership with local authorities, NHS bodies and housing associations.

We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and consistently receive strong ratings across our services. We welcome feedback from the people we support, their families, and professionals, to ensure continuous improvement.
