This is more than a support role. As an Advanced Support Worker, you’ll be a practice leader within the service, helping to develop and inspire colleagues while continuing to provide outstanding hands-on support to people with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs.

If you’re someone who enjoys mentoring others, leading by example and making a genuine difference every day, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

As an Advanced Support Worker, you’ll:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, dignity and choice.
  • Support people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and complex health needs.
  • Lead by example, coaching and mentoring colleagues to build confidence and develop excellent practice.
  • Support new team members through induction and on-the-job coaching.
  • Carry out delegated healthcare tasks (following training and competency assessment), including medication administration and other clinical interventions relevant to the service.
  • Work alongside health professionals, families and other agencies to ensure people receive the best possible support.
  • Complete quality audits, observations of practice and competency assessments to help maintain high standards.
  • Support the Service Manager with care planning, documentation and service improvement.
  • Champion safeguarding, positive risk-taking and person-centred approaches at all times.

About you

You’ll be an experienced care professional who is passionate about supporting others and developing people around you.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to achieve this.
  • At least two years’ experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Experience supporting people with complex health needs.
  • Experience administering medication and following healthcare plans.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence using digital care recording systems.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to lead through encouragement and example.

Experience mentoring colleagues, completing competency assessments or supporting quality improvement activities would be an advantage.
