Service Administrator

We are a local social care charity, supporting people with a learning disability, autism or mental health challenges to help them live as independently as possible.

As an experienced administrator, you will provide administrative support across the charity. You will be the first point of contact for incoming calls so you will be proficient in communicating with a range of individuals with a variety of needs, and in resolving queries at the first point of contact. Whilst working primarily from home or the nearest Avalon office, there will be occasions where you will need to travel to other locality offices so being a driver with access to a vehicle is preferred though not essential.

You will work in a fully digital environment, so you will need to be confident using a range of digital packages including Microsoft office and bespoke web-based software.

You will be a team player, a natural organiser with great attention to detail and will thrive on the unexpected and finding solutions. The work involved is often varied and sometimes sensitive or confidential in nature. You will find a strong team spirit across our services and amazing colleagues who always pull together and look out for each other.

Avalon Group offers a supportive, values-driven work environment and a competitive benefits package.

Appointment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

As The Avalon Group meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

Criminal records will be taken into account for recruitment purposes only when the conviction is relevant. Having a ‘spent’ or ‘unspent’ conviction will not necessarily bar you from employment – this will depend on the circumstances and background to your offence(s) and we will consider these on a case by case basis.

The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.
